The insurance group Die Bayerische, a group of companies operating throughout Germany and with its headquarters in Munich, and Domicil Real Estate AG are developing their long-standing cooperation. The insurance company is participating to the tune of 10 million euros in Domicil Real Estate AG. Through a capital increase Die Bayerische is securing a stake of 5.4 per cent in the share capital of Domicil Real Estate AG. Furthermore, Die Bayerische is making 250 million euros available to Domicil in the form of a new credit line. The capital is to be invested in the purchase and privatisation of residential real estate in Germany.

The insurer and the investment and real estate service provider have now been cooperating successfully for six years, above all in the field of financing. Together they have realised projects with an investment volume of more than 640 million euros to date. The strategic partnership between the two companies is to be expanded and secured in the long term through the participation.

“Residential property is a safe haven in times of crisis and it has become even more attractive in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, interest rates are low, thus leading to a rise in demand on the real estate market. Investments in real estate companies are thus of greater interest – and above all in specialist companies which, thanks to their expertise in the field of privatisation, are able to generate a regular cash flow in addition to rental income and play a major role in the retirement provisions of their clients,” says Khaled Kaissar, CEO of Domicil Real Estate AG.

“With the participation in Domicil we are consolidating our partnership and increasing the proportion of real estate in our investment portfolio. We have been working with Domicil for a long time already and with the participation we are utilising the opportunity to take up a stake in a company that has posted strong growth with a sustainable business model,” explains Thomas Heigl, member of the board of Die Bayerische.
